Gail White-Stickles...
|
Gail White moved to Mariposa from Fallbrook, Ca. 30 years ago and has made it her home ever since. She is the former owner-operator of Maria's Cocina Restaurant (now Castillo’s) and the current owner-instructor of Mountain Yoga. She is also the Mariposa Elementary School "ASES", Yoga Instructor and volunteer Yoga teacher at other local elementary schools. Gail has been "mother" to 6 children; part-time, full-time, any time they have needed her. She and her husband, Dean Stickles will celebrate their 10th Anniversary in June. Dean has been employed locally, by ASI, for many years. They are hard-working, responsible and generous people. They are the best kind of friends that anyone can have. The kind who would do anything for you if you needed it.; Gail, contagiously laughing, Dean smiling and shaking his head because of her dynamic energy! Gail has a way of lifting your spirits like no one else.
Each one of us risk injury on any given day. Unfortunately, on Gail's birthday, she had the misfortune of taking a 12' fall off a ladder at home, resulting in a broken vertebrae. Her accident was followed by an emergency medi-flight to Fresno, hospitalization and subsequent back-surgery. Needless to say, she is not able to practice Yoga and will be in recovery for a time... She is in the care of close family friends until she is able to resume independent daily activities while her family goes to work and school.
Medical costs have far exceeded her insurance coverage and of course, she is not able to work. Until our medical system operates for the benefit of all, we must count on family, friends and our community to help each other get through these tough times. Mariposa is an amazingly generous, little town. That is just one of the reasons we love living here. We are pitching in to do whatever will help, however we can!!!
Thanks to all of you.
